Your Pay and Work Changes

Employees want to know why their wages in Kansas City and across America are stagnant seven years after the end of the recession and with the economy doing well.

Actions employers can take to help employees even when they can’t raise pay include flexible work options, timely and positive feedback, and skill training for future jobs. America has some catching up to do in training for future jobs.* For instance, 5% of young Americans train as apprentices compared to 60% of young people in Germany.** The automotive industry in the U.S. does provide training for future jobs.

Importantly, employees want transparency in the pay process and about the employer’s financial realities. Human Resources has a big and important part to play in providing this transparency.
